Need to move my gas tank back to get to wire connections to install apes on 2011 wide glide. When I disconnect the gas line at the quick connect fitting, will just a little gas come out and stop or will it all come out till the tank is empty? Any tips will help. Thanks

I am going to be putting on 12" apes on my 11 WG as well. I was told you dont have to move the tank. I heard it will make it a little easier by not neccessary. So you removed the front bolt and rear and are going to just slide it back a little for room? Does the crossover get hung up at all? Let me know so i am better prepaired.
If I remember correctly it is a lot better to remove the crossover what I did was make a couple of plugs for the crossover run your tank low in fuel remove one side of the line and lift the front of the tank quickly to avoid a huge spill you will spill some but then plug the tank and line and move the tank completely out of the way sounds worse than it really is good luck
If EFI, first pull the fuel pump CB, start the motor normally and allow it to die from fuel starvation. Then disconnect the Quick Disconnect fitting; perhaps a few drops will come out of the line.
You can do this without moving the tank at all. But as others said you should only get a few drops out of it. Don't waste your time removing the crossover line.
Thanks for your help guys. I siphoned as much gas out of the tank as i could. I had the battery disconnected. Removed instrument panel. Disconnected fuel gauge wire. Disconnected vent tube for gas tank. I put a towel on top of my rocker boxes so the crossover hose clamps did'nt scratch them. Disconnected gas line at quick connect fitting. Only a drop of gas came out. No problem. Removed gas tank mounting bolts and slid tank back enough to get to the wire connections. Now I'm ready to install my apes thanks to all the info I got from this forum. Thanks again
