2012 FXDB Exhaust W/Cat Question
Do you have to retain the Cat in the Muffler when opting for a set of slip-on mufflers? Also to remove the baffles do you just remove the 3 rivets and pull the stock baffle out? I'm looking for a little more deep tone. All the major exhaust makers don't list anything for a 2012 FX model. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i believe the only reason the cat is in the muffler is so the bike will pass the state tests. once it passes its not really mandatory anymore. cycle shack makes slip-ons for the 2012 FXDB. ive always admired their pipes and had them on my last bike. they sound great and perform just as good if not better than the major brands (V&H, samson, etc). if i were going to do slip-ons id go with Cycle shack. but im opting for a thunderheader. 2-1 perform better than 2-2 and cycle shack doesnt make a 2-2.

Before tampering with anything just remove youre mufflers and check if you like the sound no matter what you put as slip ons or baffle will not be louder than that and it doesnt make a big difference until you remove the cat.
You can drill the 3 rivets and then insert a broom stick with a rag on the other side and hammer it a bit to make it come out.

Any 2011 slip on will work on your 2012.I took my stock mufflers with the cat in them and put on Vance & Hines slash tip mufflers.Most after market manufacturers of slip ons don't list a 2012 Dyna because the stock mufflers contains the catylist and bsfore it was in the header pipes.
