Exactly. Some of you guys are a little sensitive about those FLD's.
I love Dynas and Sportsters too. I just look like a gorilla on a tricycle so I don't have one. I wish there was a larger framed Harley that looked as cool as the Nightster or 48.
I plan on a late 70's or early 80's FXR down the road soon.
Everything everyone here asked for can be made by you if you have the ambition to make it yourself. I do not believe some of you have not asked for a better handling and smoother riding bike. How about more HP or more CI? I love the bike and think it is the most practical small bike that can do it all. If you really want something bad enough than get off your *** and do something about it. Be a biker rather than a consumer as that is how it was done prior to the Harley mass craze, you made it yourself.
PS, I need a right side complete saddlebag.

LOL...I think that it all started with the term "Road Queen" and then the lines were drawn. Its like reading all of the "chicks bike" posts in the sportster forum. Cracks me up to read all of the defensive replies when in reality no one really cares. Now with the FLD I think that most people just have to admit that the moco marketing this thing as a smaller male or female touring bike hasn't really helped the cause much. I think that the FLD is a slick little bike, my wife is 5' 3" and can actually go flat footed with it. The people that aren't bothered by the name calling are real FLD lovers and the people that are upset with the comments are simply just second guessing the purchase.

Good post and most of it is pretty much on target. In all honesty, I've had a few consternating moments about it all and actually went through a phase or two wishing I would have bought a street glide instead. Hate to admit it in light of your post, but I did. "Those who took offense were second guessing the purchase", that was pretty astute on your part.
Mrnone told me something yesterday about what he liked about the fld, he said it was first bike he ever had that his ***** didn't hit the seat when he stood up. Now, there's some appreciative stuff right there. LOL
I guess that would put him in the true fld lovers camp?
To cover the saddle bag supports on the lower fender, magnetic covers like the ones available for the top supports, color-keyed to the fender. Mine is black. With the bags and windshield off the bike looks like my '82 Shovelhead FLHS. But the saddlebag/fender supports look like big zits on a beauty queen.
I agree with the suggestion of the reversible quick release over fender luggage rack. Use flat rails like DuoGlide and old FL.
I agree if you've got the know- how. My brother builds a bike each winter even making parts. Of his eight, Two are supercharged and one has 152 lbs torque. He has never lost at a HP shoot out. On the other hand, I feel good about being able to change seats! Wish I could. I'm glad there are good guys who can and will make stuff for me. Ride fast.
I will provide you the final, final list this Friday. The meeting is in February so he wants it by the end of the week or so. But safe to say we have a lot of the same wishes. The dealership rep is known for being a pest so he will pester the MOCO on our behalf.
