Ive had many models. Road King. Electra Glide (shovel and Evo), dyna Sturgis. FXR, But I've been waiting for the bike that had the FL front with the Dyna frame. I can take the bags off! Or keep them! And when I'm done with the cams and mapping and suspension stiffening (simple), I'll be faster at roll on than any touring model. I think of it as a new age Duo Glide. Not knocking a Dresser...I love them. But even after performance mods on mine, I wanted more speed, and faster turns. But still wanted to cruise or tour in comfort. That's why HD makes more than one model!
there is no 2nd guessing on my purchase, I wasnt planning on getting another bike till this summer, when i saw the fld ii answered my needs , and bought it a year early..

Jamman, I wasn't even thinking about buying a new bike either until I saw the FLD. I use to go by the motto "only take what you can put in your pockets". I like my bikes simple and clean and Harley answered my wishes with this model. Somebody started a thread that was asking what other Harley would you add to your stable if you could and I thought about chiming in but every time I thought about one bike or another, I visualized the FLD with or without the windshield or the bags and said "no way" I already have that.

there was a lot of second guessing on my purchase, of the 2011 wide glide i bought in june that is... when about 5 weeks after i bought it i saw the FLD at the official HD demo days at my dealer then every damn time i went in ( which was every weekend) i drooled and sat on what ever one they had in the showroom... finally last month i said to hell with it, if they make a me a good deal on my trade and price of the bike im buying it....
also im so confident that this is the bike for me i broke down and bought the factory service manual for it, first one i have bought since my yamaha fj1200
Exactly. Some of you guys are a little sensitive about those FLD's.
I love Dynas and Sportsters too. I just look like a gorilla on a tricycle so I don't have one. I wish there was a larger framed Harley that looked as cool as the Nightster or 48.
I plan on a late 70's or early 80's FXR down the road soon.
I appreciate your post mike and your humility is refreshing.

I bought mine cause I could, and it fit. Didn't ever think about what anyone else cared for or not. That purty much has been my Life, went out and got what I wanted, not what someone else thought I should have. If I can work on it I will, if I can't then that's what Professionals are for. My Riddin an Ownin has been for a # of Decades so I'm not excactly new to the game. What I want on my Bike is a True Cruise Control, not a Throttle lock and for the Life of me I can't Figure out why someone hasn't done it yet on a Dyna. Ive gone back thru all my Threads on all the other Machines Ive owned and there have been several Shade Tree Mechanics that have done this on many Metric Brands using Automobile type CCs, but for the Life of me I cannot find proof of one of being Installed and Working on a Dyna. So I would Like a CC on my FLD. Why? Arthritis in the Right Hand and I love LD Riddin.
I do like the switchback but it needs wire spoke wheels 49mm fork off of the streetbob and the bags rear fender off of a streetglide and it would be teetotally badass.
I just told my dealer this yesterday and he said would`nt a streetbob with hard bags be the same? not to me thats why i have a sg and a sb

Big Mike,
Sorry for being so sensitive but my new bike is like a newborn to me. Ha!! But seriously, you have a nice bike there and now I can't get that gorilla riding a tricycle picture out of my head. Here's a picture of my bike at work a few months ago before winter set in and the guys with those BIG bikes accepted and liked my FLD.
By the way, I like and agree with the wish list here. A lot of good ideas!!
