Default Fork Slider Replacement

I'm in the process of taking my front end apart for some winter projects and have a question about the sliders. I'm looking to either replace the stockers with chromed sliders or have the stock sliders sent out to get polished. I found a pair on e-bay from a 2001 Dyna, but my parts manual lists the 04-05 as a different part number. Does anyone know if the sliders from earlier years are interchangable with the 04-05 model years?

I know they changed frames, seats and a lot of other parts in '04 which aren't swappable with the earlier years and in '06 they went with the larger front tubes.

Just checking.

I believe they changed the axle diameter during 04 05. If the part numbers are different they will not fit.

You have the 1" axle and as far as I know your stuck with 04-05 parts.... you could just change the wheel bearings to the 3/4 and then you can use the older wheels and sliders but of course you would need a 3/4 axle and spacers.

Thanks, that's what I've found out myself. The e-bay sliders won't work and the 06-07 models won't work either due to the larger diameter fork tubes. I think I'll buy an extra pair when I can find them reasonable, just to have since parts for the 04-05 model FXD's seem to be like the redhaired stepchildren of the Dyna line.

I got the HD chrome sliders for my '04. Looks great, but I wanted to add a fork brace and NO ONE makes a brace that will work with the chrome sliders.
