I have a 2000 sportster right now. I'm going to pick up a 94 Dyna Lowrider on Friday and I was just curious about a few things. Hopefully some of you older dyna riders will check in and help me out.
Whats the difference between the lowrider and other dynas? I know it was meant for shorter people. I'm 6'2..lol! So I will be getting some forward controls. But will they work with the highway bars?
I've been doing alot of parts shopping and I don't run into a whole lot of parts that say they are compatible with the lowrider.. just dyna. What should I watch out for that might not fit my bike?
My plans to upgrade include.
Bonanza 15 inch apes
Forward controls
Air cleaner
Mirrors
Hand grips
seat
V&H Straight Shots
also I might think about a doing a fat front tire swap. (I love the look)
A Low Rider is just a Dyna. Virtually everything but cosmetics are interchangeable. Low Riders have a handful of unique parts. The twin gage pod on the tank is probably the biggest. They have most of the chrome parts Harley put on motorcycles, black engines and less rake in the trees than the Wide Glide but more than the Superglides. Scooped out seats also helped lower the rider, but at your height, forwards will be a great addition. Forwards were the first mod I did to my '96. Everything else you listed is a universal Dyna part 'cept you may have issues getting much fatter than a 100 tire in the stock forks. With 15 inch apes your gonna need longer cables and wires. Post some pics!!!
Probably want to visit the Evo section.... half the guys on this forum don't know Harley even made bikes prior to 1999.

I had a dyna lowrider back in 1994. A good set of cams, branch heads, Super E carb, performance ignition, pipes etc really woke the bike up from stock. you can do a lot to the evos to make them run stronger then stock. A brother of mine ran a carb, pipes and ignition and until I got my 96 ci I could hardly keep up. Plus you wont have to deal with the early twin cams horrible cam set up. Evos run gear drive cams stock.
