burley slammer shock measurement

Default burley slammer shock measurement
the directions say there needs to be 9.63" or less of measurement between top mid shock mount to lower mid shock mount. Have a 2006 wide glide with the street bob fender on it. Mine measures 9.70 as the belt guard hits the fender anybody else out there have this concern?????? Suggestions
