I'm going to the swap meet this weekend in Denver looking for a chrome master cylinder and such for the handle bars on my 07 WG.
I see that there is one for single disk and one for dual disks.
Is there a problem with getting one for dual disks and only run single disk?
Some time in the future i may upgrade to dual and don't want to have to by a new one at that time.
Thanks in advance.

Master cylinders designed for dual disc (2 caliper) operation have an 11/16 in. (17.5 mm) bore (Kit No. 45281-99C), while those that are designed for single disc (1 caliper) operation have a 9/16 in. (14.3 mm) bore (Kit No. 45284-99C).
The bore size is stamped on the master cylinder assembly inboard of the handlebar clamp bracket.
Here's a link to the Instruction Sheet for the Chrome master cylinder:
"WARNING
Do not use parts from single caliper repair kits (9/16 inch bore) on dual caliper models. Likewise, do not use parts from dual caliper repair kits (11/16 inch bore) on single caliper models. Using incorrect parts can cause brake failure, which could result in death or serious injury. (00278a)"

Never rebuilt one of these. In the instruction sheet, item 6 or 9 reservoir actually appears to be the cylinder. I had thought the repair kit item 11 was the piston and cylinder that slid in the reservoir. Is this not true?
there is no problem doing what you are looking to do... rebuilds are easy and have been outlined very well here be sure you use some brake fluid to lube the seals
