Anyone removed there rear fender struts by cutting of at the top shock mount ? Thinking of doing this to install shortened rear fender, just wondering about pros & cons of permanent removal by cutting. Cheers, Paul.
There should be some good info on you tube,
If you are thinking of a VooDoo fender the manufacture has some info on you tube also
been thinking of the same but lacking green ($) for the fender and xtras,
What are your Ideas for directionals?
Carl
I have the custom dynamics LED S/T/T but not sure if these will look right with the voodoo fender, would probably look for something like the mini clusters they sell with the voodoo fender, but that puts the cost up even more ! Not worried about cutting the struts myself, the only issue I have is if it is going to affect the re-sale value of the bike, so might compromise & cut the struts halfway & leave the first fender bolt hole & then try & mod a shorter fender from a fender blank.
I have the standard Harley chopped fender on the bike but don't like how high it sits up from the rear tyre. I don't want to change out rear shocks to lower the back end as these have already been changed to aftermarket adjustable shocks.
Love the look of the voodoo fender but think it restricts your options too much.
First off Pete at rocket bobs was great and answered any and all questions i could throw at him. U can get the fender in standard, their +60 or any custom length. I went with standard and he told me itll support 2-up strength wise the only issue is the lack of a second mounting hole for the standard two up seat. They offer a lick and stick to match their wheelie seat to go 2-up but i opted not to go for it for now. Any questions definitely contact them, as for me im pumped and cant wait to have it done
Also i plan on going with the custom dynamics led. How do you like it Paul ? How did u find the install?
Very straightforward, however had issues with the amber turn signal but after emailing them they sent me further wiring details & worked very well. Only thing is if I go with the voodoo fender I think my LED clusters will be too big as they fit in the standard turn signals, will need to think if I can locate them elsewhere or if they will fit on the voodoo mounts.
Have spent along time looking at different chopped fenders but as yet have not seen anything as good as the voodoo. Cheers, Paul.
I dont think the voodoo has mounting locations like the stock struts do. They make a purpose built light bar to mount with the fender to go with the kellermans they sell or it can be made to fit any diameter mounting bolt u like. I was going to go with the joker machine led mini bullets but settled on the custom dynamics integrated led for a clean look
