Default Axle

Hi I have looked through my parts manual as well as my service manual and cannot find the answer. I would like to know the dia of both the front and rear axle on a 04 FXD. I personally thought it is .75" but just wanted to confirm. Thanks.

I don't know for sure but up until 2006, I thought all axles on Harleys were 3/4". You can buy a micrometer for about 10-20 bucks to make sure.

I may be reading it wrong but if you go to the HD accesories section of their sit and look at wheels and then check the kits neede to install it states that my bike has a 1" front axle and a .75" rear axle. So I have to accept that although I was quite sure it was .75" all around also.

According to Ronnie's both FXD '04 rear and front hubs take bearing 9247.

Specs for this bearing 9247 are: OD 52mm, ID 1 inch, W 21mm
