Default MGSCustombikes is getting aggressive on duals

I talked with the owner and he told me they are working on developing a true dual exhaust for the FLD AND it will be a performance system.

Additionally, he will be working on a full sized hard bag system for it too. Something that looks correct and has a greater capacity.

This guy from MGS sounds serious and quite able, some fabulous builds on his site. Since mrnone is the mod-king of the FLD, I turned him onto MGS for the proto-type build bike. This should be interesting.......

Comparison photos of '12 Heritage and '12 Street Bob ...

So ... it appears to me that if the mounting bracket 'nut' is cracked (to support the pipes back aft) ... and, the bent shift lever is installed ... that the Softail duals would work on late-model Dynas ....

FBinSoCal ... please pass to MGSCustombikes ... and have them send the R&D and design royalties to me and blueangle73 ...

I think there will be several companies jumping on this if they determine people want it. Watching you guys develop your version is like I said, quite fascinating.

Man I tell ya, those in the patent and R&D worlds have a tough job. Pour out your creativity, heart and expertise then have someone come along and put their name on a version of your design. My hat's off to you. When multiple people have same basic idea at same time, that has to be the worst pill to swallow of all. I mean who's first? First to patent, first to market, first to reveal idea to others? Like I said, that has to be tough. Great job man.

Thanks for adding me in there Chop....I finally get some credit!!!

I am going to check out this MSG site sometime today.

I figured that if this issue of "you cna't put true duels on a Dyna" issue got push enough and the BS flag got pulled someone might decid to pursue correcting it. Looks like we are starting to be seen now.

I might just order that crossover pipe and roll over pipe from V&H and see what the clearences actually look like. Guess I'll have to make room in my shed so I can pull the bike apart to start test fitting.

Also, that design we came up with to mount to the trans, I think some 1/2" - 3/4" round bar bent as required with the trans mount tabs and softail exhaust brackets all welded on would be light enough while not being bulky or annoying looking.

I don't know if this would sell like hotcakes at the pancake house, but I am sure there would be a good number of Dyna riders that would go this way to make it worth the wild of the exhaust builders!

I have had tons of ideas and would have had them paented but there is one thing I don't have!!!, the $$ to get the patent process done. So, if I put an idea out there and someone else takes it and runs with it, the best I could hope for is that they would provide me with some credit and maybe some free parts or whatever the idea was and if I am really lucky they will send some royalties my way!

I would like to see a system more like one of these for the Dyna, something without the huge exhaust muffle, something better suited for the Dyna's kick *** approach.

or

Pretty surprised with the want for a true dual system for the Dyna. Impressed with all the ideas. What we would need to make this happen is to get our hands on a specimen to do our frankenstein work on. We know we can make it happen, but since we aren't engineers, we need the actual bike to design a system that works. If anyone is in California or willing to travel to California, they would get a great exhaust system out of the deal, and I'm sure a lot of people would thank them for aiding in the process of getting a True Dual system for Dyna's. So, who's game to help us create a prototype?

So, I quickly drew up a different version of the bracket we talked about. On this one, one would mount the bracket attechment to the trans mount and then use a bolt and two small washers (offset use), the bolt would go through a swivel bearing the would be pressed into the swinging support arm. I feel this would allow the exhaust to have a little more movement without resistance at the hanger points.

Just another idea, that is all.
