I've got 16s but I did tilt them back a tad so I could straighten my back more. No numbness. My hands are almost parallel to my shoulders. They were on the bike when I got them. At first I didn't think id like them but they grew on me. Honestly 14s would probably fit me better but not enough to justify the cost.

I have some wild1 chubby's on my street bob. 14". They are a lot more comfortable than the stock mini apes. I love mine. Took a 4,300 mile trip last summer and never had a problem with circulation. I am 5'8" tall and the bars come to even with my shoulders.

I had 12" apes on my 2005 Road King. I'm tall, so they were just barely below shoulder height. I didn't ride that bike much, and traded it at very low miles for a 2011 Street Glide. I like the SG glide so much better, and I think it was because of the apes on the RK. My hands would go numb after a while, and I didn't have the confidence in the twistys. I love the look of apes, but would not do them again unless I was building a chopper or bobber.

I have 14" apes and 300 mile rides without a windshield traveling the highway or whatever are easy.
I have done 2 saddlesore 1000 rides, a 1500 mile bun burner ride and a 2000 mile saddlesore ride with these 14" apes on and no problems at all with my arms, I did use a windshield on those rides though.
There was a problem with my wrist on the 2000 miler though becuase of holding the throttle for so long, after a week it was better but it had me scared. I'll never attempt 2000 miles in less than 48 hours again... well I do have a throttlemate now so maybe I shouldn't say never.

I ride 16's with a bare metal seat pan. My hands are over my shoulders....I am 5' 5" tall. I have rode hundreds of miles at a time. Although my apes are narrow ( which may help alot) I didn't see anyone mention SWEEP. I tried 3 different apes before these. they way they drop and sweep, there is no pressure on my wrist.....more ergonomic i guess. do a little research on the different angles, drop and sweep as well, not just height. There are alot of different styles out there, one set of 14's might be more uncomfortable than a set of 20's depending on sweep. IMHO this is an area that is overlooked by alot of people. I would never go back to any other bars, love these, had way more discomfort with drags.

And my hands fell asleep with the lower apes not the 15s.
Pretty much. Until I put the 4" riser on I would get wicked back pain. Amazing how much that little chunk of metal helps.
There is such thing as going overboard however up to 14" or so should improve comfort
