Raked Trees for FXDB
Jackyl,
Are the parts you listed compatible with the 49mm front forks on the 07 Bob? Also, you said you upgraded to a 21" wheel. Doesn't the size of the wheel effect the trail of the bike? If I were to keep my stock front wheel do you think I would have problems with my trail? You guys are awsome! Thanks again.
Now I have a question? Every thing else remaining the same, how much effect would two inch over tubes have on trail?
Thanks
Tom
Give the following link a look. This front end kit maybe what you are looking for. It seems like at least one forum member has the kit installed but I can not remember his screen name. If the kit works as advertised it might be the safest way to add a raked front end.

They don't have a kit for the new 49mm yet. He said that they are waiting for someone who can produce fork tubes that are TUV approved...that is a higher standard than DOT.
I saw 49mm tubes at another place and he advised me not to use them because they had problems with them.
Wideglides USED to have 3 degrees in the trees several years ago...now they don't, the tubes are 2 inches longer, because the frame has 36 degrees of rake in it! It used to be 34 degrees but was increased to 36 degrees for 2007!!!!
B.E.O.S.C.(Bitter End Old School Choppers), they will sell you a set of raked bearing races. These increase the rake in your frame 3 degrees by raking the race where your bearings ride inside of your neck tube!!! Go check them out!
Accotronix has several styles of wide glide and mid-glide conversions available. You can even opt to keep the upper headlight mount or go with the lower tree mount for your headlight.
EXAMPLE~ DYNA Superglide, 2005~28 degrees of rake in frame. 3 Degree bearing races=31 degrees in frame now!!! (Same as a Softtail standard now!!!)
Then add in 3 degree in the trees when you do the wideglide conversion. 31+3=34 degrees! Looks like a 2005-2006 Wideglide now!5 degree trees and you are at 36 degrees! like a '07, FXDWGI, Again, ensureyour trail is okay though!!!!!!!
Accutronix has a calculator where you can determine where your TRAIL is. This is VERY Important! My old Kawasaki chop was SCARY over 70 MPH!!!! it had 34 degrees in the frame, and I threw on 7 degree Mortons trees on it for 41 degrees total. Scary as hell at 70 MPH +!!!!! Had to let out of the throttle! Awesome for around town!, easy to toss around, very responsive, jsut don't haul a$$ with little to no trail, or you will see what I mean!!!!
Other option is the AME Chopper kit. It is designed to add the rake in the head tube angle and tree angle to keep the trail in the stock limitations so that the ride is perfect at ANY SPEED!! This is what I will be doing when I get back from Korea!!!! 28 rake +14 rake= 42 degrees rake with 6 inch over tubes on Susie! But, with the 41 mm tube upgrade, caliper upgrade etc. 2.5K+ cost!!!!OUCH!!!!!![&o]

Ithink the 2007 Dyna's are the same as 2006's.
