Does anyone know the bearing set up in the 2006 steering head?
I've seen the bearings with offset races that allow you to rake the front end, but isn't the 2006 a different set up?
Are the races machined into the steering head and non-removeable or something?
Yes. Well, the races aren't machined in, but the cups are. You can replace the races in the neck, but the only raked "race" setup I've seen is raked CUPS that you put standard races in.

I wonder why HD took the Lowrider from 32* neck angle and 0* trees to the 29* neck angle and 1.5* trees in 06? Anyone?
I would guess the reason is that they only had to produce 2 frames (WG and all others) for the dyna family this way so it saved them money. They probably designed the frame so the rake/trail would be a suitable compromise for both 0 degree trees and1.5 degree trees. So the lowrider still has more rake than the other models, but less trail.

Yes, that is what i was thinking...just couldn't remember exactly how it was set up.
Looks like it's time to get the grinder out and get rid of those cups...I love the grinder!![8D]
I can't give exact measurements, but I know I have compared my bob against a mates lowrider and his frame (neck) has slightly more rake than my bob....

If you are thinking you can modify the '06+ neck, I don't think that would work. The neck is just a different design on the inside that would require precision machining to allow for cups to be inserted, if it could be done at all. You'd have to have a new (old style) neck welded in. The neck tube has your VIN number BTW. But if you are going to go through that much trouble, just have your frame raked professionally. They will reuse your neck tube and your VIN will stay intact. Plus you can have any rake you want that way.
Sounds as if there is enough interst for one of our ever diligent aftermarket manufacturers to buils us a safe functional raked frontend. I would like my tubes chromed.
