Hey chamba, I remember you from the sporty forum. (I was under the name of JC Sporty) I just came from my sporty to a WG, and really love it. More power, much better ride, and the 180 tire and rake really make the bike. My wife inherited my sporty, so it's still around if I want to ride it. So far, I haven't wanted to.
Hello there buddy! I remember JC sporty. I remember the post where you moved here.....
I am drooling over the rake, and want apes. thanks for the affirmation. just feed the monster, thanks a lot.
Unfortunately I will need to sacrifice the XLC to get another model, but I AM dreaming. I like to think I deserve it.
I like the SG styling better in general. I almost got one when I picked up my SB. To me the SG is the best for the money. Also, if you like Chrome the SG is the one to get. It would be nice to get that 103" motor stock but I have been happy with my 96" so far. 6 speed is nice after coming from a 88 ci twinky in my old fat boy. Keep us posted bro.
I just traded my 1200C in for a new Super Glide Custom.
Last summer I rode many bikes at the dealer & also went over for demo days & rode everything they had & have also rode some of my buddies bikes. After riding pretty much every bike HD makes, the Dynas in general are the best combination of everything, so IMO you can't go wrong with either.
Comparing the WG & the SGC:
The WG has more rake & the 80/21 front tire, so it's a bit harder to manuver at slower speeds than the SGC with less rake & the 100/19 front tire. The WG is pretty much blacked out where the SGC is mostly chromed out. The WG has the 103 & the SGC has the 96 motor. I can't tell much difference really in stock configuration power-wise. The SGC handles better than the WG, but not as good as the Fat Bob does.
I almost bought a Fat Bob, but liked the looks of the SGC better. The SGC is considerable less $ than the WG or FB, so I got the SGC & used the difference in $ to put a ton of accessories on it.
Go to your dealer and ride both and decide what fits you better, but you can't go wrong with either bike, or any Dyna for that matter.
another former sporty rider here. had an 09 sportster low, had the sundowner seat on it, wife complained after about 40 miles as well. Upgraded to a '12 FXDC in october with the new rider backrest seat, no more complaints from her. While I miss my sporty, I absolutely love my SG

Sorry its the new Signature Series Seat with Rider Backrest, Part # 52000015. a bit pricey, but like others have mentioned, the lower price on the Superglide allows "extras"
