Default Ohlins #5's

Installed my Ohlins #6's on the Ultra this weekend. Will be installing the Race Tech front springs and Gold Emulators in a few weeks. This week, getting my YELLOW Ohlins #5's from Howard Messner @ Motorcycle Metal. He's a great guy, fantastic rider service. Once the bagger is done, will be talking with Howard about what to do for the front end of the Fat Bob.

Thanks, Howard. Appreciate your help and input.

Forget I subscribed to this thread. I bought a set of Ricor Intiminators about a month ago and finally got to install them last week. With the Ohlins and now the front suspension update, I've got a much better riding/handling '03 FXDL. Still have it in my mind to get some softer tires tho. I have new OE Dunlops but I didn't know any better when I bought them.

Howard at motorcycle metal would have made you a deal for being a hd forums member for top of the line ohlins for that very same price. Yes they are the piggyback gas compartment ones , and he also would have explained to you why those compartments are so important.
My understanding after a 10 minute conversation with howard is , any shock which has the gas mixing with the oil is going to turn your oil into a milkshake like liquid reducing the effectiveness of the shocks until they cool back down.
