Cooled down the rear pipe - thigh saver
Heat from rear pipe warming the bottom of your thigh with stock pipes? Mine was, even though the Xied's helped some.
I removed the sheild, glued a couple of strips of blanket type baffle packing to the points (3) where the sheild contacts the pipe, then reinstalled. The clamps are plenty long enough to still tighten it back on.
This spaced the sheild out from the pipe almost a quarter inch, allowing more air space and air flow under the sheild. Appearance wise, it's not a noticeable difference.
Rode 170 miles this weekend and it seemed to drop the heat radiating up by quite a bit. Now the bottom of my thigh is not getting well done any more. Only slightly warm at stoplights and such.
Didn't really cost anything because I had extra packing from the Sportster 2into1 baffle wrap I did.
Was worth a try, and paid off.

What a simple solution, it's probably not additional space between them that is dropping the temp, but the fact that you isolated the metal to metal contact, that should reduce the heat transfer quite a bit.
