Default Heat wrap

Has anyone tried wrapping the headers and put the heat shields back on. I have been thinking about it, but wondered if there is a draw back to doing it. My right foot gets pretty hot some times on my FLHTK

I have heard that wrapping a single wall pipe will eventually cause the pipe to crack.

If the heat is down on your right foot does it still have the cat in the pipe ? Wrapping the pipes can cause the pipe to rust or crack from what I have heard .. Good luck .

Back in 2010 I cut out the catalytic converter out of my head pipe with a hack saw on my 2010 FLHTK, had it welded it back together, (cost me $20), wrapped with the head pipe from about a inch from both cylinder heads all the down over the junction area with header wrap. Recovered with the stock chrome heat shields. No problems over 6 years now.

This idiot made heat shields instead of wrap.
