Pipe Wrap
Just got a 2008 Street Bob and it has the SE exhaust. Thinking about putting on pipe wrap mostly for appearance. What are the pros/cons of pipe wrap. I'm thinking that with pipe wrap the pipes will not be externally as hot, which is good. On the downside, I am concerned that the pipes will burn out prematurely and get discolored. Is that a legitimate concern?
The wrap will act as a heat shield of sorts. But it will retain heat in the metal and can trap moisture if you get it wet and don't dry it completely. I posted a thread a few months back showing my exhaust after unwrapping.

Yeah, those are valid concerns.
Appearance is about the only good reason to use it. Heat shields with an air gap are more effective at keeping your legs cool.
A good ceramic coating is also a good alternative.
I like and use wrap, but I also have to admit the significant downsides. If I had nice (expensive) stainless pipes, I'd probably have them ceramic coated internally and run them naked.

That said, I do like the look.
