Now on the Samson Big Guns exhaust they have no heat sheilds. I can buy them but should i do that right away? i have never ridden w/o heat sheilds, so is it real bad?
I think these, like others, actually have a "pipe within a pipe". The outer, larger diameter pipe, acting as the heat shield. Not sure withn the Samson products though.
I have the heat shields on my samson exhaust. They help to omit heat to my leg and aslo cover up the blueing that is on the pipes. My suggestion is order the heat shields with the pipes.
i did it both ways....when i bot my street sweepers they had no heat shields, id sit at a red light and my right pant leg would rest on the pipe, after 3 severly burnt pairs of jeans i finally figured out what that smell was and that nobody in the car next to me was ironing! heatshields saves pants and keeps the pipes looking cool!
