I usually replace after 3 or 4 years because they fail at the worst time....My bike is always on a tender when it's in my garage.

My 09 FXD is showing sign that the battery is weakening. I've had to charge it a couple of times in the last few months after letting it set longer than it's usual period.
Living in SoCal I would ride almost every couple of days so I never invested in a maintenance charger.
But sometimes health kept me from my regular riding habit,
Now, I live on the central coast of Ca where the cooler weather and more frequent rain can keep home for a couple weeks at a time the Anti-theft system is drawing the battery down.
I'll keep nursing it along and see if I can get it through til summer though.

I am going to load test my battry today and get a new.

The battry failed load test so I got a new deka battry and all is sweet.

OK, so I am in a similar predicament. I have an '04 that has an HD battery, dated June '08. My battery tender says all green. Should I play it safe and replace it this year? I would hate to get stuck far from anywhere on a Sunday night.

Any recommendations on non-OEM brands? I've had Yuasa in other machines and they were fine.
