the load balancer should be included... was with my smoke tail light.
LEDs are brighter than traditional bulbs... but use hand signals or something just to be extra safe... even if you keep your original turn signals on. I took mine off and like the look. now to do something with the front.
not trying to be argumenative at all... with that said.... I had to buy the one designed for bikes with alarms. If the description of the part you are buying does not specifically say it comes with, I would double check. One phone call can't hurt
i removed my turn signals. i use hand signals during the day because they arent that easily seen. at night the tail light is sufficient.
does anyone else have a problem with fit? mine has a gap between the tail light and the "chrome" trim ring. Its about an 1/8th of an inch. its definatly enough that rain or washing the bike is an issue. i usually take the tail light off after i ride in the rain or wash it so it can dry out.
i contacted kuryakyn and they hadnt heard this before. i thought maybe my trim ring was out of whack but i tried the tail light on my other bike and get the same gap?
Something is definitely wrong. My dad installed the panacea on his 06 Sportster (same tail light mount I think) and the light fit nicely into the mount. I've got their smoke LED tail light on mine and it fits just like the stock lens too.
What is preventing the light from seating all the way?
All you guys that removed your turnsignals, What did you put on the bike to fill in the oval indent on your fender struts where the blinker mounts were?
When I talked to Kuryakyn, they asked the same thing. Is something in the way?
But there is nothing. I think the one I got is just f'd up. I will eventually take some pictures of it and hopefully they will replace it.
Bigbird,
As far as what I put in the dimples, I've got Leather Pros bags, which "require" a kit from harley which has two little ovals that cover it up. If I did it again I think I would have just bought a nice looking screw to fill in that hole. I think its been mentioned on here by others taht the ovals are chromed pretty poorly.

I'm going to fab. something up but, I also think I'm going to powder coat the strut covers. I'm thinking about welding a stud to the back of an oval shaped piece of 14 ga. steel and powder coat it the same color. Like I said before it's going to be a few weeks before I get started but I'll be sure to post pics. when I'm done.
I have a 2005 FXDCI with a bobtail rear end. I put the Kury smoked ,low profile tailight and it fit OK...BUT I had to use the original HD tail light screws as the one they had sent me were too long....I don't have the chevron turn signals in mine...so no issue as far as a load equillizer...also no issue with HD factory alarm. I have had mine on for 2 months now...only the screws they had sent me were too long...that may be your issue of not getting the lens flush with the chrome base????
Thanks for your post Patch. I was beginning to get concerned. I recently installed the Smoked Laydown Tail Light (LED) and know nothing about a load balancer. I sure don't want electrical problems..

Not a bad idea. I was thinking on welding on a pannel to fit then drilling to put a chrome bolt through. I like the idea of welding a theraded rod to the back of the peice. I too plan on either powdercoating or painting the struts. I figure if I paint the struts I dont have to have perfect welds cause I can ues body filler.
