CM22's bike is a 2000 FXD Super Glide ... has 39mm narrow glide forks ... therefore, it should be interchangeable with ones made for Sportsters ... I think for a while after '06 (when Dynas were changed to 49mm mid glide front ends) the orientation of the fender mounting bosses was horizontal ... but, now the fender mounting bosses are vertical orientation ... which does not lend itself to a decent fork brace like the one being used by the OP ...
There are some fork braces that surround the upper fork slider tube and mount around the top of the lower slider where the dust cover goes ... but, not sure about the availability of those for all FXD based models (mid glide and wide glide) ... used to be a Screamin Eagle fork brace ... but, I think it might have been discontinued ....
surfer chop has this right - cept I dont think any of the 49mm slides had horizontal mounts - i could be wrong - most important to me is that mine had the vertical - so the hundreds of Sportsers versions dont work
It seems like that really wouldnt do much for you performance related if you are putting it on for aggressive riding. Most of the braces for performance related are really beefed like the superbrace and the crossroads performance brace.
There is an 'L' shaped adapter that can be used to mount old, horizontal-mount fenders to the vertical-aligned fork tubes ... Klockwerks makes them ... I've seen posts where guys have made their own ...
That said I don't think using adapters would add much rigidity to the front end ... it would allow one to mount the type of 'fork brace' the OP made ...
