There's got to be at least one ******** in every thread!
Lighten up Francis. It's winter and we're all bored. I'm recovering from surgery and can't do much of anything except sit in front of the computer for the last couple weeks. I happen to think those little fairings are kinda silly. Big Deal. You like 'em - fine. Who gives a crap. Let's not have such thin skin.
What are your plans?? Ive got plans for mine as well.
Well I've already got a 300 watt (RMS) amp in my lowside saddlebag, and I just plug my MP3 player in to a cable on the console. I've got two speakers mounted to a plate inside my toolbag on the bars, with the back (facing me) sliced open so I can hear it. It's plenty loud and clear as it is, but I'd really like to ditch the toolbag and headlight visor, and mount the speakers on the inside of the fairing, and use molex connectors to have a quick-disconnect for the wires in the event I want to be free of the fairing for a bit. I've considered using one of Rockford's mini Marine amps that puts out the same wattage, but it's smaller than a paperback book, I could tuck that right inside the fairing (I think)and only have to deal with rerouting my power and ground... I have two obstacles:
1.) I don't want to blow $350 on the fairing and mounting kit. Hoping to find a used one.
2.) I don't know what the 'inside' of the fairing looks like to plan it out while I search for a deal on the fairing.
Here's a couple pics of how the current sound system is just 'plopped' on my drag bars.
How tall are your risers and do you think these Fat Boy risers (just under 2") would cause any issues?
The Roadster is made for a bike regardless of riser height- my stock risers are 6", but I'm going to 14" WCTbars.
The fairing is made wide below the windshield to fit stock bars and risers which are usually 2".
You could email them and ask I suppose to be sure.
