Burly Shocks
Hi All i know there are threads on these shocks already but none that really answer my question. Can anybody help i'm looking to get just the rear Burly shocks for my 2011 wide glide, would this be ok or would i need the springs for the front forks, if any body has just the rears done could they post some pics please............cheers
No pics, but yes.... you do not NEED to add the front drop kit if you do not want to. You can just lower the back. If fact if you are looking to save money you can just drop the forks in the trees an inch to help level out the bike. Thats a very popular mod.
Thanks guys for the advice, all your bikes look good, i've been told over here to stay away from 10.5" shocks as it doesnt give much when going across bumpy roads (UK roads are bad for pot holes
) and the belt could come into contact with the oil housing. I'm tempted to look at 11" progressive shocks instead. Just a question, when you guys with Burlys have loaded your bikes for a weekend have you had any probs or even 2 up?

I also have a Wide Glide...
Do you ever bottom out?
How hard does it ride compared to stock?
My bike stands pretty straight up on the kick stand. Is it worst with the Burly's?

The guys who already have the burly's obviously know how their ride is but I had similar questions and emailed progressive suspension.
I told them that I ride two up about 50% of the time, I weigh 190lbs and my girlfriend weighs 135lbs. What was the lowest I could go without bottoming out during the 2 up riding.
They replied and said 11 in. heavy duty would be the lowest and that I would have to trim the rear fender above the belt guard to prevent them from hitting each other. I asked him if I could just remove the belt guard (because I already have) and he said that the fender could then potentially hit and cut the belt.
Now out of all the "how low can I go?" shock threads out there I've never heard anyone saying that happened to them and I haven't heard many guys with burly's complain all that much so take it for what it's worth. My take is that the progressive guy was just trying to cover himself as it may have a slight possibility of happening.
I'm probably just going to go with Progressive 418's (for better rate) in 11 inches and keep the setting higher.
