Default Torx Sizes

Plan on getting a # 47 Torx to get the stupid gigantic bolt off of the passenger peg mount to put some chrome ones on-was wondering if I should pick up any other large ones I might need, while i'm getting this one-i have a set of smaller ones-but nothing that big

Thats the largest one Ive needed so far. Those peg mount bolts can be pretty hard to break loose and there is limited room. I couldnt get mine off with my driver set and had to use a right angle torx wrench like below.

See the pinch bolts on your trip trees;
if they are torx heads you'll need a TX45 -
I replaced mine with GRD8 allens.

Get the #27. The #25 will strip out the screw. Torx sets don't come with the #27.

Some torx sets do include the #27. I bought a set at Advance Auto and it included the #27. I also bought a Craftsman screwdriver set from Sears and it had a few torx screwdrivers in it including #27.

Every Torx you remove, replace with allen bolts. You can buy the button heads anywhere in stainless or black or chrome. I hate Torx.

Boltdepot.com is a very good source for socket-head bolts to replace the crappy Torx ones. I have been using them since 2007 and their customer service and selection is excellent. If you have your parts manual handy, it will list the exact dimensions of every fastener on your bike making it easy to order socket-head replacements.

Before trying to break loose bolts a few shots of P'Blaster will really help too: http://www.blastercorporation.com/PB_Blaster.html

You can get this stuff at any auto parts store (e.g. Autozone, Pep Boys, Advanced Auto, etc).

PBlaster rocks, I've used it quite a few times.
