Thanks for all the replies. Im going to go look at it next chance I get.
My riding style is pretty much how once of you already said. I like to ride back and fourth to work, mostly shorter weekend rides like a 100 miles and maybe once or twice a summer me and a couple buddies will do a longer ride but 95% of my riding is just cruisin around cuz i have nothing else to do but enjoy it. i'm not going to take off any head from NY to Cali or Florida just yet.
Sounds like a dyna is perfect for you then. No need for anything more loaded up. You can always add detachable bags and windshield for longer trips.
if its in your budget, keep the sporty and still pick up the dyna. sporties are fun little bar hoppers. if i had the money laying around i wouldnt have sold my dad my ironhead and i would be making a bar hopper out of it.
You're talking 10-15 years down the road? Get the bike and start saving for the next one. Nothing says you can't have two bikes. Should be able to save enough in ten years for a nice bagger to park next to that Dyna if you want. And your needs may change by then too.
Congrats on the new ride! Im sure you will have no regrets. What sold me on the dyna is they are the lightest and best handling of the big twins. The SB's 29° rake makes for a great steering geometry. Add a sissy bar (detachable?), luggage rack and rear pillion and along with your bags and you will be surprised how much **** you can carry on the long haul. The dynas are very versatile bikes
