The gaskets have been redesigned, and are taller (or deeper). I replaced the entire assembly, brake fluid resevoir, new and improved gasket and lid for about $120 some time ago and no further leaking or paint peeling since.

I hate taking the lid off mine I always have to ride around with a screwdriver getting it just the right tightness before it will stop leaking.

I don't think the brake fluid eats the paint, I think it is getting under it and lifting it. If you use Enamel paint or any other NON lacquer paint the brake fluid shouldn't attack it. Lacquer is easily destroyed by dot 3/4. I wouldn't use dot 5. Dot 4 is the best fluid for heavy duty use.

if ya decide you dont like the peeliing,you can always tear it off and i can coat it for you... did all my controls looks so much better and the powder you dont ahve to worry about brake fluid... if you do swap to another fluid be sure you completely flush the lines with denature alch, also replace the seals in your calipers and plunger seal in your master if you make the change

Thanks for the info Joe. I am thinking I am going to go with the powder coat but it is pretty eat up. I may have to get another one unless you think the powder coat can fill in some small pitting and still look good.
