Since nobody else posted this. I use Bar Keeper's Friend. It works great on Polishing Chrome and never scratches. Take a damp cloth and sprinkle some on the cloth and go to town.Come in a gold "Comet" like container.

I don't know about Bar keepers Friend , but Comet has a fine abrasive in it and would probably eventurly dullor rub off the chrome finish on the pipe.
If that stuff looks like and feels like Comet when you use it, I would use something else.
Agree with mikeurig.... Oven Cleaner works best. Wrap aluminum foil around areas you do not want oven cleaner overspray. Spray bot mark burn marks, wait a few minutes.... wipe off repeat if stuburn marks. Been doing cleaning this way on all my bikes. Anyhting else..... and you run risk of possible mechanical damage to chrome.
Oven cleaner worked fine for me. Got tired of black marks on my pipes so I bought the boot guard. I bougnt the bend wire type not the flat metal one. Looks good and works. No more boot marks. Cost $79. High but works great..
I used Road Rub today and it wirked like a charm. Its looks like a little deoderant stick. Just rub it on and it erases the gunk on your pipes. It sells for like $4 or $5, they have it at my Harley Dealership.
