Easiest way to tell is to follow it to where ever it goes, if it ends at the battery , it's probably for a charger.

It's a plug-in for a battery tender. Make sure you get the right kind of battery tendeer, there is one type with a different plug and then the type like Harley sells with the plug that you have. My dealer told me that they don't come stock, but that they go ahead and install them on all of the bikes sell. It sure comes on handy, being able to just plug the battery tender into a socket on each end. Never need to worry about how to get to the battery and attaching something to the terminals. Art

My Harley Dealer put one of these plugs on my 05 WideGlide.
It is located just behind the battery box. The salesman showed
it to me before I rode off and he spent the time to explained
how it works. He also gave me a brand new Battery Tender Junior
to go with it as well.

Could also be for heated gear also besides the battery tender, or both.

Heated Gear in some other part of the world "Maybe"
It feels like the tropics here.
Maybe a 12volt fan mounted to the handlebars -
for when your stuck in traffic [sm=wootwoot.gif]
