Well I ordered the same light that a lot of you guys on the forum here have, I think. Its the 7" headlight from bkrider. I was going to mount this headlight up but then I ran into a small problem.
The new headlight looks like this:
And my headlight now looks like this:
Am I missing something or is there a way to mount this?
Well, with enough time, money, and creativity you can make anything work. Don't recall what model my 7" light came from (got it here or eBay as I recall) but mine has the same type mount as the bike. The light you have is like that on my g/f's 2000 or my Sporty or even my old Shovel FXRS (except for size) - the nipple in your hand goes on the top and the light hangs from the eyebrow.
that is not the correct style lamp... u are going to have to heavily mod that to make it work... one easy way to do that is to cut of the nipple part and drill/cut and rivit on the mount from your stock lamp
This is the mount that tucks it in and makes it look right. You need the tall mount, part number 69611-06. The one pictured is the short mount. The total of the light and mount will come to over a hundred bucks but its OEM quality and look without the price tag:
And upon looking a little further into it, it looks like this is the one you ordered, or at least received. I'm assuming you did get it on ebay like the rest of us:
The auction says bottom mount, but that light is CLEARLY a top mount. You might want to mention that if they give you any crap about returning it. I'm certainly not telling you to be a d*ck to them, but I would expect them to pay for return shipping too, because their ad is false. From my experience with bk-rider, they are very reasonable and obviously have a good business going, so you might not have any issues with exchanging it.
