Default Street Bob

Just picked up an 07 Street Bob with 3K, anything I should check for or what bolts I should go through? Anyone have a maintenence sheet/checklist for these bikes?

Also the handlebar mounts move back and forth a little, is this normal on these bikes? This is kind of annoying.

Also this bike came with vance and hines big shots I believe, I'm thinking about taking the baffles out, I like loud and obnoxious pipes. Is this ok on the 96ci or do I need to retune it? I know performance goes down a bit but its a harley so it doesnt matter.

Also this thing vibrates pretty good at idle or very low rpms, this normal?

Thanks

MrBob,
Congrats on your new ride. I bought my '07 SB a couple months ago with 8K miles on it. Here are the issues that I had that may be helpful for you. First of all the handle bars do wiggle around, the longer mini apes act like a longer lever. You can change out your riser bushings, that'll help a little. As for your vibes, check your front motor mount/isolator to see if it's soaked with oil from previous oil changes, the oil will breakdown the rubber causing it to fail prematurely. Also just check the isolator to see if it is still properly supporting the engine, it's not doing it's job if the engine is just sitting on it. One other thing that I noticed and you should check on is that the tail & rear blinker light wires are in their clips under the rear fender. I found mine shredded and dragging on my rear tire when one of the turn signals stopped working. Thats about all I can think of for now.
Have fun with it and ride safe,
Gil

Thanks for the info, I'll check all of that.

There is one more thing I noticed, when coming around corners I have a weird wobble at times coming from the rear when on the gas, it feels unsafe. Any ideas?

did a tuner come on the bike? or is it the stage 1 download. assuming you have either one, you should be fine taking the baffles out without having to re-tune.

the wobble could be the back tire/wheel out of balance.

First off, performance doesn't matter cause its a harley? If you are riding it hard enough and are troubled by the turn wallow, then i would think you are a performance minded guy.

Second, your wobble could be the wallow that dynas have when you ride em hard through corners, check your tire ballence first, and then think about getting a true track or sputhe stabilizer system

I also hated that movement in the bars. I changed the risher bushings to poly ones and it solved that crap.

Dynas shouldn't wallow in corners. Could be front shocks, rear shocks, wheel bearings even tyre pressure.

Ya a wobble could be a number of different things, I would start with tire pressure, then make sure your rear tire is correctly alligned and balanced, then it's time to start looking at wheel bearings.

Also one thing to watch on these bikes is the front end, if you hear or feel and chatter in the front end over bumps or in breaking, you need to tighted up and adjust your fall away.
