Default fall away ajustment

OK, I need to adjust the neck bearings on my 2004 wide glide. The service manual gives good instructions on the procedure with one exception. How do you remove the chrome cap that cover the Steering nut?

It just unscrews. It is decorative. You might need something to grip it though. Maybe tape the jaws of some channel lock so you don't scratch it.

There are two small allen head screws on the side of the cover, loosen and off it comes.

I guess it depends which kind you have. Mine unscrews. No Allen screws holding it.

Mine is screwed on also. Adjusted the fall away, and it made a world of difference in the feel of the front end. I went a little toward the tight end of the adjustment.

I used a leather belt wrapped once around it. Kinda like an oil filter strap wrench works.
