I am new here and new to the world of Harley's. Bought my fxdc about a month ago. I originally planned to ride it stock but that changed within the first week one of the things that I just had to change was the exhaust. The stock mufflers were so quiet I felt like I was riding a Japanese bike. So I bought the ms129 cycle shack slip ons and wow what a difference. Night and day. Bike seems to rev more freely as well. Maybe a bit too loud though. But a huge difference. just thought I would share my thoughts as a newbie with everyone!
Hey i did the same thing -with my '11 superglide-had cycle shack slip ons on a 1200 sportster years ago and went with the same thing on this one-sounds good-hey dont worry about being too loud-wake them neighbors up !!! welcome to the forums too-NOW get a stage 2 for the air cleaner
Stage 1 is pending. I wasn't sure what full exhaust if any I wanted to go with so for now I went with the cycle shacks. After my 1000 mile service I plan to do a v&h fuel pak ad air cleaner upgrade. The stealership informed me that putting a full exhaust or fuel pak on would void my warranty. So I will wait until after my complimentary 1000 service to do those mods.
You can use the Thunder Torques to get a bit more power/Torque AND mellow the sound out a bit. (118's for most power, 158's for a bit more quiet and almost as much power increase)
I had the full on stage 1 and Dyno with both my bikes with CS Slip ons. No decel popping at all even if I tried. OldMike, “getting more” pleasure out of the sound works for me.
