I have a D&D fatcat and SE heavy breather w/ a stock 96"
What's a good map to use to eliminate the pinging and/or setting?
(I don't wanna mess with timing cause I don't wanna F the motor up)
I would use map #853 if you are not already. If you are, then check out youtube. There are a few videos that show how to adjust timing to help with pinging. On a side note I would make sure you have a fresh tank of gas just to make sure the gas in tank is not old and or not the high test that the HD manual recommends.
I had Stabil in it over winter, but this is like my 3rd or 4th tank and I always use either Mobil or Shell 93.
I will check out map 853. The map from the menu where you narrow down your bike year and mods sucks. I had that map when I first got the unit and it popped and pinged.
As you are viewing the maps you can say find the 96 ci and right click on the 96 ci and it removes all the maps except the 96 ci. You can do this for each description column. Helps narrow things down.

I know that you are able to do that. There just might be better selections than the one it narrows down. I did that when I first got the unit and that map sucked so I called thundermax and they told me to try 2 different maps, which im on the second one they told me (i forgot the map numbers).
I think the Stabil from winter still has to get all burned out cause last summer the second map the thundermax told me to us was great.
I can hear through the pipe when I start to accelerate from a dead stop and if I start to accelerate kind of hard.
Here is what Zippers wrote back: "Dan the map you are using has been updated. Go to Configure in the tool bar and then click on SmartLink Update. This will update you software and the new map will be in the software. After the software is updated go to EFI Maps in the tool bar and the software will tell you your map has been updated. Open the new map and then load it in to the module. The new map will help with the pining."
I guess they came out with an updated map? Wish they said the map #.
