Went from an 05 Nomad to an 06 FJR... loved em both for different reasons. I'll never give up my 05 carbed Super Glide Custom. It's an extention of my soul!!
No you are not alone. I had a 99 Wide Glide for years then bought a Road King that I had for 2 years. I did not like it at all and bought a 2010 Wide Glide new and never looked back.
The Fat Bob is my first Harley, and I don't see myself trading it in for anything. It's perfect for me. I've taken it on 400+ mile trips and use it to tool around here for everyday riding. Love the wind in my face and nothing to obstruct or distract my view.
I got rid of a heritage softail for the same reasons. Im only 48 but my body is going on 60. I had two speeds of living. hard and WOT. Slowed down some but still ride hard. The dyna is the best bike for me. The lighter weight is just a God send for my enjoyment of riding and even though I loved my heritage the dyna was just the right bike for me. I dont see ever getting rid of it for anything else. Certainly not a bagger. Which in my opinion (only) are way over rated. Love the power , handling and 6 speed transmission of the dyna.
Based on the replies, you're certainly not alone. I added a 2010 RG last Sept, but still ride the dyna, so I never really "returned" to it, since I never left. I love the dyna, but have to say the RG is a real sweet ride!
Had a Heritage and always had neck pain, regardless of the mods to correct. Same with a Street Glide and a Road Glide. Always started hurting after 50+ miles. Went to the FXDC and no more pain, after adding a Sundowner dual seat. The Dyna is the best overall bike MOCO makes, at least it is for me...tomp dd50
Traded in my Electra-Glide Classic for a Fat Bob. I had a 94 Wide Glide. When I got married I tried to make my wife happy so got the FLHTCI. She never really got into riding. We do some weekend trips, but nothing big, so the Fat Bob should do the job for us. I'm just waiting for a Mustang wide seat to arrive.
Had a '06 RKC and loved it.Thought I would have it forever.Well at the end of last year we parted ways (sold it to my friend) and I bought a new '12 SB.The king was great but was not much fun to ride anymore. Also it was a big bike and I was kinda getting tired of the whole big bagger thing. The SB is just awesome.Plain and simple.Alot of fun to ride.Alot lighter and has a bad *** look to it (got mine set up w/16"apes,V&H short shots, mustang seat and a few other bells & whistles) Only thing I miss is bags. The RK or any bagger has great storage space.Gonna put a swing arm bag on just to carry a few minor things.Love this bike.
