Am I the only one here who rode a touring bike/bagger for a while and simply had to return to a dyna?
Been a rider for 25 years. Started on a sporty -- moved to a WG and the went to an array touring bikes (thought that was supposed to be the natural progression as money comes a little easier to come by with age). However, I just made the move to trade my touring bike to go back to a new Dyna Wide Glide because I simply love the dyna more than any other HD -- even the baggers ones that can cost two or even three times as much.
I traded my 2007 Road King Classic for a 2011 SuperGlide with forward controls. I got the Custom, $800 in credit towards parts, etc., and first service free, for my bike plus $1700 OTD. Some will probably think I'm crazy, but I missed my old SuperGlide. Road Kings are very nice, but not very much fun to ride. I'm getting older (just turned 60 with a bad back) and my trips are down to about 3-400 miles. Why do I need the Road King?
Funny thing is I really love the Street Glide and was seriously considering trading my Dyna. Dealer let me take one out for a good ride and while I love having a radio and bags available, I just can't get past the closed off feeling of the fairing. At slow speeds the steering felt heavier too. So actually I'm not suprised you came back to a Dyna.
Not exactly, but I did recently sell the EG in my sig pic and picked up an 09 Fatboy. After 40 years riding and nearly 10 with a touring bike in the garage, things have changed and I no longer need the luggage, two-up comfort, etc. Now I alternate between the Sporty, the BFKASB (bike formerly known as street bob), and the Fatty depending on where I'm going and how I feel.
I'm with you I just traded my Road King that I've had for years for a SuperGlide Coustom 2012 it was the best thing for me. Touring bikes are for some people and not for everyone I love the feel of the SuperGlide verses the Road King will never go back.
