Dyno Costs
Does $395 sound high for a Sert Set-up and complete advanced dyno tune? I am purchasing the Sert separatelyand taking it to the race tuning expert. His standard fee is $395 complete. I have heard amazing positive feedback on this individual/business.
I just wanted to know what others have paid for a dyno run to customize the sert for optimum performance.

2 things to consider.....
Is the tuner REALLY competent? Some guys are just "so-so" at tuning....if he really knows his stuff...then YES, It's worth it!
Gonna spend alot on tuning. Every time you change something on the motor, it will need to be re-tuned, i.e. and other 350 bucks! So, figure out what all you want to do to the motor, and get it done at the same time!
That's the b1tch about EFI. It's expensivve to get it done right. Once done, it's lovely!!! But the price of admission is ALOT!!!!

Two Harley Davidson dealerships in Texas quoted me $395.00. Sounds like the going rate. I am adding V&H sideshots and V&H pro tune with K&N AC system to my 2007 Bob. I have been told that all I need to do is set the tuner at Stage 1 and I don't need a dyno run..............

SERT or PC III with DYNO tune can be better than the download. From what I've heard, sometimes the Download works, sometimes it doesn't...as all bikes are different......
I have the Stage 1 download AND a Power CommanderIII, USBwith a DYNO tune. The Download, increased my timing, and my RPM Redline, ......the PC III cleaned up the A/F Ratio, and makes it run hard. 13.7 A/F all the way across with extra timing, cams, etc. makes a HUGE difference!!

Last week, I was quoted $195 to start with a zero map and customize it on the dyno. No installation ofany kind is included. Price does include a print out of the dyno run and a soft copy of the map. I could just download it myself (I keep a USB cable connected tomy PCIII coiled up under the fuse box lid) but it's a nice gesture.
I'm taking it in on Friday and will report back on how it goes.

rates are going to vary by area. Also, rates may be different for a SERT tune compared to a PCIII tune.
RE: PCIII downloads. I used a "canned" map as reccommended by the guys at Power Commander - just to get me held over until the dyno tune - My headers blued all the way down, and onto, the mufflers.
I probably would have been ok had I riden directly to my tuner, but I didn't... I took it out for an afternoon.
Lesson learned - don't trust the canned maps for more than the short ride to your tuner.

$149.00 for Dyno run andprint out of run all done at Stealer, (all with a PCIII). I can get a laptop, connect it to the PCIII and look at and compare what they did to the canned map that I started out with. I also can change around any and all the settings if I so choose to and see what happens and if I do not like it back to the one the Dyno run left me with. You might ask why would you change anything after a Dyno run. Well who is to say that the person running the Dyno knows what they are doing or is good at it. My experience is make sure that who ever does the Dyno run (if they are using a DynoJet) that they have been to the new schooling on the Dyno. Lets just say that the moron who did my dyno did nothing to the map that I had loaded into it except change the 100% throttle numbers. I go ahold of DynoJet, talked with one of the head instructors and showed him my run and the map and he said that the person who did it does not know what they were doing! He said that if they had the newest class on the Dynojet that they would understand how the PCIII works and the EFI. So if you are looking to get a Dyno run done, and whoever is doing it is using a DynoJet Dyno, make sure they have the up to date classes or you too may end up $149.00 less in your wallet for nothing.
PS The instructor at DynoJet told me of a Dealer near me who was taking the new class, so spring time I am going there for a new Dyno run.

I have a friend who is an approved Powercommander tuning center. I believe he said the normal charge for his tuning is $250.
I had a generic map on my Shortshots with no blueing at all. The bike ran awesome with no backfires or stutters. I believe you can get really close with some of the canned maps.
I switched over to the Python 2 inot 1 and took a short ride with that same map and the bike ran fine...then i stripped her down for winter mods. I'll get the full tune in the spring.

yeah, i got my sert. my both stealers in my area want $425+ !!!!!! yeah...there better be some lipstick, a dress and dinner involved cause there's some sort of sexual experience going on with that. and i'm pretty sure i'm gonna be sleepin in the wet spot and crying afterward!!!
