I get 50 mpg on the highway and around 32-35 in the city. The map I run hurts my city mileage as it adds gas at the closed throttle position to reduce exhaust popping.
Figuring out the gas mileage is easy, I don't know why someone wouldn't take the few seconds not to figure it out. It's useful when planning trips on the bike or in the car.
Doin alot of around town ridin 2 up I got 33 the other day. Have gotten as good as 47 on the hwy by myself. Thats runnin bub jug huggers, se ac, fm powervision. But....like piginablanket, Ive got it richened up pretty well on closed throttle for decel popping reasons.
I don't think I have ever got over 50MPG. I did my own test today...cruised between 75-85 for a few hours and got 44MPG. Hell I was happy with that...I'm sure I could get a bit better but that would take some of the fun factor out
I don't understand the MPG obsession people have, are you going to ride your bike or drive your car more or less depending on what you get for MPG? My wife and I have a Chevy Avalanche, and a Chevy 1500 Crew Cab, if you asked me what I got for MPG on either I couldn't tell you, nor do I really care, same goes with all the bikes. I fill it up, I ride it or drive it, when it gets close to the "E" I fill it up and again and the world keeps on turning. To each their own, but I just don't get it, is it a bragging rights thing?
some of us are broke and personally im on an insane budget at the moment . Gas in montana just broke 4 bucks a gallon. (it was 3.25 two weeks ago). Maybe if more people cared they wouldn't jack gas prices every spring and summer during travel season. Personally I use the bike for transportation to go see my daughter in CO and my family in OR. If I did not get reasonable mileage I would be stuck at home ... so hell yes I care about mileage . For some of us its not bragging rights. If you can fill up and not care about cost you must be doing well with your cash flow.
I get 42 mpg with 06 88 with stage 1 k&n, xied. andrews 26 cams. Thats getting on it pretty good with highway and some in town riding havent road it to just check mpg.
I commute to work just about every day I can, about 26 miles round trip. The trip is a mix of Parkway and city roads. I'm consistantly averaging a caculated 43 mpg commuting. With high test around $4.20 a gallon riding my bike sure takes the sting out of filling up the tank on my 4x4 Quad Cab Pickup.
My bike is pretty stock, V&H slip-ons, SE AC, TTS Mastertune with the bike dyno tuned at a local HD dealership.

4 bucks a gallon is pretty cheap. Up here it's at least 5 and in Europe it's quite a bit more.
I think what skid was trying to get at is that fuel is a necessity and keeping track of mileage isn't going to help it,so why even bother.
I keep track of mileage per tank only because Harley fuel gauges are junk. Fuel is one of those things you gotta have,at any price.
Just saying.........

Fuel in Canada has been at $1.20's per liter for the last two years, that equates to $4.54 or more a gallon, and that's for regular more like $1.35 per liter for premium so try $5.10 per gallon plus, so cry me a river about gas prices. Yes Shredding Rubber is right, gas is something I am going to buy one way or the other, it's needed for me to live my life. Yes my wife and I both work hard we both also have very good education which we didn't have to pay for (athletic scholarship & academic scholarship) and have good paying jobs as a result, but in the end people are going to use there vehicles even if gas goes to the moon, it's the way things work.

Like clockwork, everytime someone starts a thread about comparing fuel consumption someone gets on and says they dont give a toss. The OP didn;t ask for comments from people who don't know or care about their mileage so why respond?
I'm getting about 36mpg on the fat bob - if I did the conversion right lol
