In this day of expensive fuel I thought I would perform a little MPG test with my 2011 Dyan Super Glide with SE Slipons, SE A/C and Xied for fuel enrichment and windscreen. I filled it up with Shell 93 octane with a gas can on a small pad near my shed on level ground with the bike on the kickstand (tilted left). I filled it until the gas was half way up the spout of the funnel and about as much as you can put in it. I also filled a gas can up with 4 gallons of Shell 93 gas and was going to see how much of the 4 gallons it would hold when I rode 200 miles but my better half wanted to go for a ride this morning and the odometer read 224.7 miles when we returned home. It took exactly 4 gallons to fill it to a little more than the half way mark up the same funnel spout at the same location at the shed. That comes out to 56.17 MPG which I am quite happy with since a friend of mine has a 09 Road King and gets 35 MPG. I know his weighs almost 1000 lbs as opposed to my 650 lbs but I weigh 50 lbs more than him and I rode 2 up for 40 of those 224 miles. I did notice my MPG decreased when I put the Xieds on with the SE Slipons and improved when I added the SE Air Cleaner but I did not know by how much since I had not tracked the MPG. When I filled last fill up it said 298 miles for the range so I guess that is pretty accurate. I have the speedo with tach which seems more accurate than the OEM speedo when calculating range. Guess we'll be taking the Dyna a lot more with the gas prices the way they are LOL. Anyone else done a test with a stock Dyna?
I have a 2012 switchback,103" with 700 miles on it. I'm getting 37 mpg now. I have stage 1 air cleaner, CAT removed, stock muffler. Power vision and map from Fuelmoto. I was hoping I'd be getting closer to 40mpg once the engine is broken in.. Although it may be as Broken in as its going to get.
I don't understand the MPG obsession people have, are you going to ride your bike or drive your car more or less depending on what you get for MPG? My wife and I have a Chevy Avalanche, and a Chevy 1500 Crew Cab, if you asked me what I got for MPG on either I couldn't tell you, nor do I really care, same goes with all the bikes. I fill it up, I ride it or drive it, when it gets close to the "E" I fill it up and again and the world keeps on turning. To each their own, but I just don't get it, is it a bragging rights thing?
I have a 103 stage II on my '08 fatbob, and I have noticed it definitely takes more fuel now, but I'm haveing alot more fun with it! I can't be bothered to figure out just how much extra fuel is going through the system!
35 to 40 mpg but i have never checked it when i cruise on highway at 75mph ( cause i dont )
