Good news. It must have been the 1st one made on monday or the last one on friday.
I put another new filter on and within 20 seconds I coud here the ticking stop so I went for a ride and now it doesn't sound like have solid lifters anymore.
When I get time I'll take over to my brothers shop and cut cover off and have a look.
I would certainly like to see what it was, maybe you could cut 2, a good one and yours... I know, asking for the world...
Glad all is better.
I still have the old one I took off the other day. If I find something that looks wrong I'll cut that old one also and compair the too. I'm guessing the by-pass valve isn't working right.
Sometime around 2004 or 2005 the filtwers were changed by HD from 10 micron to 5 micron. Don't know if the relief bypass valve was changed. Maybe you got the wrong filter?Glad you got it straightened out.

I put on a Drag Specialities filter a few years ago and it sounded like solid lifters when I first started it up. I didn't like what I was hearing so I changed it out and the noise went away. I will never use their filter again.

the by-pass shouldnt have to open up on a new filter, it should only open when the filter media clogs. Let us fnow what you find out
