I finally gave in to the windshield idea again. I had a wind vest but word rather not have one because of the time it took to put on and take off. So I *got a harley quick disconnect shield and took my first ride today.
Everything was a lot quieter but the front and felt lighter. Has anyone experienced this or know what I'm talking about. Also the wind really blew the hair on my chin. That is the only place he got me and the wind came from around the tank.*
As far as the adjustments go I have it where I can just see over the top of the shield. I moved it up some but didn't like that anymore than I did with it at the lower position.
Does anyone have experience with the touring lowers like Joe had on his?
Has anyone done any experimenting with mid control foot position, and Forward control foot position. I have Mids. But when I put my feet up as if I had forwards it seemed as my legs may block that wind coming up.*
Not a special pic or anything. But I think pictures just make a thread more interesting.
With my HD QD windshield on my SB, to prevent the buffeting I moved the bottom of the windshield out about an inch. There's a thread floating around that talks about it. I'll see if i can find some old pics..
On my last bike, I had the same issue with the wind from around the tank, and HOLY CRAP the lowers made a HUGE difference. It blew my mine, but not in my face!
After trying different angles and heights I found that if I set my windshield all the way back in the mounts and raise the clamps about 1 1/4" off the lower tree it eliminates buffeting in my chest, face & head. Im 5'10" with a 30" inseam, bike has 29° rake. Little adjustments can make a big difference
