Id rather use a windshield with no helmet... no wind noise, watering eyes or buffeting. I go for comfort and ride quality

I'm with you brother. The closest we can get to no helmet here in Michigan is a half helmet. Besides the bug problem, noise reduction is another good reason for using a shield on a long ride. Sure, you can wear ear plugs. But why? With a shield, I can hear the tick of my fuel injectors. The hard-cores use neither, but they'll regret subjecting their ears to the 120 dB roar of the wind for umpteen hours by the time they're 60!
