I've measured my header at 475 degrees with a cheapo infrared thermometer just in front of the muffler/crossover on my 2011 Limited. That's without a cat and a 13.0-13.4 AFR.

Here you go, the pipes maintain the heat right up to the baffles. When I used high heat paint on my pipes before my latest set the paint would flake right up to the baffle, and after it was just fine, so still lots of heat on the hot side of the baffles.

My pipe is not chrome, it is dull tarnished stainless steel. Dull and tarnished - a perfect surface for an IR thermometer reading.

I am perfectly aware that a shiny, reflective surface can corrupt an IR thermometer reading and that is not the case here.

Now your estimate of "around 200 tops". Do you really believe that? Every part of the engine gets at least that hot and exhaust temps are significantly higher than other parts of the engine.

200 would be the heat shields, not the actual exhaust pipe. See chart above.
