Default 2012 Wide Glide peg ?

Am waiting to pick up my first street bike in many years, gave up street riding years back and stayed on the drag strip where it was safer....

At 64 I've decided I want to ride again and bought a 2012 Wide Glide, not planning on doing much to it, but you know how that goes.

Anyway, it has the forward mount pegs and I'd like to add mid mount pegs to it, leave the controls forward, but add a set of pegs there.

Years back I had that feature and it was nice to be able to move the legs around on longer rides.

Dealer says the frame mounts are there for the pegs, but the pipes are in the way.

Anybody know if there are pipes that will work ??
I'd like to keep the bike reasonably quiet if possible also.

TIA

Al

Congratulations on your new ride - great choice - I love mine!

I have a 2011 Wide Glide and I did exactly what you are looking to do. I have the original 2-1-2 Tommy Gun exhaust and I think the 2012 Wide Glides have the same. It looks like they use the same frame for Dyna's with mid controls and forward controls. What I did was simple. I found a pair of the mid-control mounts on ebay. Somebody converted from mid to forward controls and was selling the mid-control mounts. The mid-control mount is also the mid-peg mount. Off the top of my head, I don't remember which mid-control Dyna model they were off of, but they fit my Wide Glide perfectly. They bolted right up to my frame and cleared the exhaust. You don't need the mid-control aspect, just use the peg mount. I put Kuryakyn pegs all the way around, so just added the same pegs to these mounts. Thus I have forward pegs w/ forward controls, mid pegs to change leg & foot position occasionally and passenger pegs, all the same.
If the 2012 is the same the 2011, you don't need to spend money on exhaust changes. FYI - I'm a huge fan of 'be seen and be heard', so I put Rush slip-on mufflers to give me the be heard factor while keeping the configuration and looks of the 2-1-2 Tommy Gun exhaust. I love the way this exhaust looks. I don't know how to put a picture on this forum, but if I can figure out how, I'd be happy to get a picture to you of what I did and what mine looks like.

I do, but I don't know how to post them. Technology challenged, I guess.

Well I'm giving it a try, so let's see if this works. Pictures attached.

I figured out how to attach pictures - now I'm danergous

In case it helps, I took some closer pictures today, for the good of those who want to do the same or similar.

The peg mounts I used are standard HD parts for the 2011 mid-control Dyna (FXD) models. Left peg mount is 50667-07 (black wrinkle), Right peg mount is50666-07 (black wrinkle). There are also chome versions available. They bolted up to the frame like they were meant to be.

FYI - I live near Buffalo NY and the roads are finally clean enough, after winter. I took my Wide Glide out for a ride today. Oh my - what a machine. How quickly we (me - long winter) forget what a pleasure it is to ride an HD!

Great, thanks much for the info and picts.

You find the mid mounts get in the way at all??

Was out today on the bike, in the 70's and really felt good to be riding again, been almost 15 years since I had a street bike.
