Default Front turn signal relocation - Wiring

I have searched in the under $50 section and got lots of good ideas on how to mount the turn signals. I am having trouble on figuring out the electrical part. Can someone point me to a thread or explain what is involved with pulling, cutting, splicing, re-running wires? I have a 2012 Wide glide and want to mount them on the forks but don't want to tackle this project before I know whats involved. Thank you!

With the 2012s, it's different than 2011 and previous years. It's a lot to explain but your best bet would be to go to the HD website and download the instructions for the turn signal relocation kit for 2012 dynas.

Even if your not using their kit, it will give you an idea of what is involved. I cut my wires to relocate them. It sounds like a tough project but easy once you actually do it.

Would be pretty easy to cut and butt splice, or solder/heat shrink.
Just got some parts to move mine on a 2008 but i want to keep the wires complete so plan on taking the tank off to get at connectors, get wiring out of loom, then put my new bolts on forks, spin on lights and put wiring back as it was, then put tank back on.

Cee, no reason whatsoever to remove your tank.

Oh, I haven't looked at it too close yet. Thanks if that is true, great.

I figured i would have to with the kit i am using as i have to thread the bolts into replace the fork bolts, then spin my lights on to the smaller diameter fork threads on the same bolts. I thought the wires would have to be disconnected and free so they don't twist up. I'm not using a fork clamp kit, with that one i don't think i would have to disconnect any wiring.

I haven't gotten around to my relocation yet but I thought with some patience it was possible to disconnect the wires from under the tank so that no splicing or cutting was required.

I don't know what all is involved in removing the housings and wires from the handlebar assembly...that's all that's held me up on moving them to the forks.
