...My wife has no interest in riding...since it's not setup for anything but solo anyway...
This might have had something to do w/ it. None of your bikes were setup to carry her! It's understandable that you'll want to choose activities where you can spend time w/ your family. And having a Harley isn't for everyone; it's not easy to rationalize owning one.
I had the same problem. But i was not getting any buyers for my bike so i had to drop the idea for a while. i will give it some time and then try again later in the summer. i totally agree with your decision.
I went through the same The wife would let me buy a bike then wouldn't let me ride. So i stopped for many years. Then out of the blue, she said we had to get a bike and only a Heritage. We did, and four months later she left me for another Harley rider with more disposable funds. Well she's gone for good and I'm on my 4th Harley, and am happy with the deal. My 22 year old son got into bikes and he rides too, now.
Sounds like you have the right idea, and off roading is a blast. I still do it in my 60's... tp
I am in the same boat, I am thinking about selling my bike too. I have a 1 yr old and now one in the belly due around September. I don't get much time on the bike, except when I ride to work. I don't get much time to work on the bike either, it just doesnt fit in my schedule. I could use the extra funds that I am paying on the bike to buy a bigger house....I think she will be listed pretty soon.

That blows, man. At least you got a son, friend and riding buddy out of the deal.
I am sure you will not regret your decision. Nothing worse (IMHO) than missing your kids grow up. If you were missing the family I'm sure they were missing you!
I was in a similar situation before our twins were born 11 years ago. I had a bike (sport bike) and would not have time to ride (without leaving the wife and kids at home). I couldn't even ride to and from work since I had a work schedule that made it best for me to pick-up and drop-off the kids at daycare. Now that they are old enough to stay home for a few hours at a time I can commute AND get out on the weekends WITH the OL. She missed the bike too, and is happy I got another one. The kids get to ride with me on short trips too (they LOVE it).
There will always be other bikes, but your kids are only young once.
