why not buy a cheap sportster and bob that , they suit that style much better than a dyna , which IMO is just to wide to carry off that old skool cafe look ( like a fat bird wearing a mini skirt ) there o.k after a few beers but not that great looking when your sober
you will also end up with 2 very different bikes to play with and keep your fatbob in one peice for the summer
sounds like a win win to me
good luck with what ever you do , keep us posted with pics .
I'm thinking along the same lines regarding the backbone of the frame being too high although with a custom built tank ditching the console for fork mounted gauges and the look might be very acheivable. My thoughts would be something with a larger higher front and a thin tapper to the rear with knee inserts toward the back. In my past life I built a few bikes with clip ons, it's a pretty Badass look. Also to tie in try to trim the front fender taking the front tip and making it more of a radical point.
Regarding the head light I would machine up a longer lower mount for it and powder coat it in a flat black for a more sinister look. You could also make up a fiberglass 1/4 fairing too reminicent of the old XRCH. On the rear fender a short radical bob ditching the rear supports is definately the route to go in my opinion. Next on my list would be to modify the swing arm making it longer and laying the shocks down even more plus black powdercoating them as well.
I would also fab up some rear sets for the rider footpegs and controls.
Just some ideas tossed here.

If you're not familiar with them, you should have a look at Zero Engineering's website ... they make a line of bobbers with a lot of similar characteristics ... use reproduction shovel heads and even knuckle head motors if I'm not mistaken ...
Beat me to it! Zero Engineering is who the bike in your link is trying to copy.
Good luck with your build.
Great suggestions and ideas! Hopefully we can get working on her soon. Pouring over the catalogs and websites looking for parts. It's a little nervewracking but hope the end result will be worth it! :-)
Hey there scoot wench long time, You look good! Anyhow I think with appropriately sized parts for the fatbob you should be able to get that look happening!
Hey I don't know if your still working on this but to your back fender question there are a couple guys on here doing swingarm mounted fenders to give you more of that look... Check out robbie13. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...der-build.html
