my cousin put a spring seat on his 883 and it greatly improved the ride but an 883 sporty with a sock seat is a pretty rough ride. seat made a huge difference in his ride.
Here is mine...I had the seat made and built the brackets to make it work. As far as looks I really like it. Some people might think it is dumb to put a spring seat on a bike with rear suspension but to each his own. Performance Machine does it all the time. Besides, if we all did the same thing everyone would have the same bike. Build it how you want it.
I have a spring seat on my Bob. You can get the whole kit-seat, springs, frame plate cover, and t-bracket, all together fromthe VTwin Manufacturing catalog. I chunked the seat and made a custom but the other parts make the install easy. Get the Heavy Duty springs or you will bottem out on your fender. I weigh 185 and had to order a second set.
