I changed out my mount too and what a difference. I put the shims back in with the new mount just to see if it would help by not stretching the mount again. Someone on here said "it's like a rubber band. You keep constant tension it will weaken." So it made sense. 5k miles on the new mount so far and still smooth!

Is shipping expensive from them. I thought it was high the last time i was going to try them.

tried the shimming today, and it did make the high speed/rpm vibrations much better but i gained a vib in the pegs at 2000-2400rpm. it was two washers that fit in my gap but im gonna experiment around with it and pull one out and ride it that way to see if its any better...

That's better than any price I could find, by about $10. Thanks for that.

If the bike is within the warranty period and the dealer acknowledges the mount is bad then it would be covered. Just like any other warranty issue.

Was just curious. I just shimmed mine when I installed my oil cooler with two washers (total 4), and it feels like the vibes moved in the RPM range around 3000 now. Mines still covered under warranty but i know there going to say something about the engine and over mods. Worth a try I guess.

I'm on my 3rd front mount and I too just think of it as a maintance item. I just don't get this shimming thing. By shimming the mount what you are really doing is shortening the distance between the front and rear mount. That will certainly allow the engine to move around more freely but I kind of like the idea of the engine being firmly attached to the bike. True Track and others sell devises to keep the engine more solid and shimming it just seems to be going the other way.

If you try the shimming thing you will see why it's done. Just loosen the mount bolts and you will see the motor pull back. When I put my new mount on this was even more pronounced . By starting the bolts and tightening them it actually pulled the guts of the mount out first before the motor started coming forward. This stretching of the inside of the mount would surely make it fail faster regardless of the perceived difference in the vibration. This mount needs a complete redesign from HD.
